Four police officers attend a domestic dispute which may turn violent; they are on ‘stand by’, waiting for the go ahead to enter the flat where a man is wielding a samurai sword. We wait with them, experiencing their intense relationships forged through the stress of the job; their banter and boredom; and the tensions that reach boiling point. Written by former police officer Adam McNamara, and directed by Joe Douglas, Stand By shows the modern-day police service laid bare.
